Operational protocols for emergency management
This section describes the operational protocols for managing emergencies that may occur on the managed highway section.
List of emergencies and related procedures
TUNNEL EMERGENCIES
Plan for tunnel emergency managemen
The Plan defines prevention and immediate intervention measures aimed at protection from risk in situations that may endanger people's safety, the protection of the environment and infrastructure.
Emergency management plan: what users MUST know
WINTER OPERATIONS
Plan for winter operations management
The plan aims to define roles, tasks, best practices to follow, and regulate internal and external communication to optimize the management of winter events.
Winter operations: what users MUST know
- MANDATORY use of winter tires;
- Pay attention to messages displayed on VMS (Variable Message Signs) with particular reference to:
"indication of snow event (snow/sleet/ice pictogram) and affected highway section";
This indication informs users to pay particular attention while driving due to the possible presence of sleet, snow, ice that can alter normal transit conditions on the highway platform.
Users therefore MUST proceed with particular caution, attention, respect for mandatory signs and, where necessary, further reduce speed avoiding sudden actions with their vehicle. - Pay attention to messages displayed on VMS with particular reference to:
"Operational vehicles in action"
This indication informs users about the presence of vehicles for winter operations management on the carriageway that proceed at reduced speed. In case of emergency, they may use carriageway crossovers or stop on the carriageway/near junctions to perform their activities.
Users therefore MUST proceed with particular caution, attention, respect for mandatory signs and, when approaching these vehicles, further reduce speed avoiding sudden actions with their vehicle. Please note that it is FORBIDDEN to use carriageway crossovers that may be open on the highway section for vehicles not expressly authorized.
HYDROGEOLOGICAL RISK
Hydrogeological risk management
The procedure aims to manage potential critical issues arising from adverse weather phenomena on the managed section.
Adverse weather events: what users MUST know
Before starting a journey:
1) consult weather bulletins and critical situation bulletins in Valle d'Aosta:
- Regional weather bulletin;
- Regional meteorological, hydrogeological and hydraulic critical situation bulletin;
- Explanatory manual for consulting the regional weather bulletin;
- Explanatory manual for consulting the critical situation bulletin..
2) Check the wear condition and pressure of your tires
While traveling, users MUST:
- Pay attention to messages displayed on VMS with particular reference to: "indication of the ongoing event (rain pictogram, wind, etc.) and affected highway section or indication of expected or ongoing critical situation"
This indication informs users to proceed with particular caution, attention, respect for mandatory signs and, where necessary, further reduce speed avoiding sudden actions with their vehicle to minimize effects (for example, aquaplaning during or after precipitation; sail effect in the presence of wind gusts,...) - Pay attention to messages displayed on VMS with particular reference to: mandatory exits and/or presence of work zones.
This indication informs users to proceed with particular caution, attention, respect for mandatory signs and, where necessary, further reduce speed respecting mandatory exits (and therefore not proceeding with actions aimed at evading this obligation) and not entering work zones closed to traffic.
