Toll collection methods

The toll can be paid at gates where self-service automatic cash registers are present, which accept cash and give change, as well as with cards and at gates with electronic toll collection systems. The dynamic electronic toll collection system can be used at all stations at gates characterized by yellow horizontal signs and the appropriate sign;

  • Prepaid or account-linked Viacard can be used at all gates, both those staffed by collectors and automatic ones;
  • Affiliated Credit Cards (Visa, Eurocard/Mastercard, Ressa-Europa, American Express, Diners), Postamat and Bancomat Fast–Pay can be used in all automatic and manual toll lanes.
Payment with dynamic electronic toll collection system

Users equipped with a dynamic electronic toll collection system must transit through specially reserved lanes, as the transit details areautomatically stored by the dynamic electronic toll collection system. Transit in the lane, for safety reasons, must be done with caution, at an appropriate distance from the preceding vehicle and at moderate speed, not exceeding 30 km/h, an amount which is also detected at the time of transit and can be sanctioned by the Highway Police. In fact, during lane crossing, it may be necessary to stop the vehicle if the traffic lights switch to red following the detection of an anomaly in the transit.

Missing payment

In some cases, it may happen that the toll is not paid at the time of transit due to lack of money, incorrect reading of cards, insufficient credit, etc. Under no circumstances is it permitted to reverse, and at automatic gates, it is necessary to press the assistance request button and wait for the operator's response. If it is not possible to resolve the problem, the license plate is photographed and an Unpaid Toll Report (RMPP) receipt is issued.
