Toll calculation method and tariff increases

Highway toll is the amount that the Customer is required to pay for the use of the highway. Toll revenues are intended for the recovery of investments already made or to be made, their remuneration, as well as to support the costs of modernization, innovation, management, and maintenance of the network.

The toll is calculated by multiplying the unit tariff (in €/km) under R.A.V.'s responsibility, increased by an amount to be paid to ANAS Spa (Law 102/2009 and 122/2010) for the length in kilometers of the journey made – considering that in addition to the km between toll booth and exit or entrance, the km of junctions, connecting roads, and free highway sections before and after the toll booth, built and managed by the concessionaire, are also counted. To the amount thus obtained, VAT (22%) must be added and rounding applied, up or down, to the nearest 10 euro cents. The rounding is applied automatically without any discretion on the part of R.A.V. and is regulated by the Interministerial Decree no. 10440/28/133 of November 12, 2001 of the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

Possible increases

In the last five years, the company has obtained a tariff increase of 2,30% only for the year 2024.

Increase factor

The annual increase in the unit tariff is applied based on a mathematical formula determined by the Transport Regulation Authority, the application effects of which are communicated, as a result of the annual tariff update procedure, by an interministerial decree signed by the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport and the Ministry of Economy, after consultation with the Transport Regulation Authority. Due to rounding to the nearest 10 cents, however, the final toll increase for individual routes may be higher, lower, or zero compared to the annual increase due according to the formula. It may happen that the toll does not increase for several years and the annual increase is recovered, cumulated, in a subsequent year.

The tariffs in force from January 1, 2025 have not increased.
